Photographer’s Note
A cool and rainy morning in 1984 at the bus station of Masvingo town, southern Zimbabwe. I was going east, to near the border with Mozambique, but most people here were probably waiting for buses for places not so far away. Since this was in "the good old days" of Zimbabwe, there was plenty of petrol and the price of a bus ticket was not too expensive. These day a lot of children don't get any education because the teachers can't afford the price of a bus ticket to take them to the school.
This was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hej Gert,
People are being scattered all over this large bus station, in a way giving a certain impression of some hopeless waiting for buses that never arrive. But I may be wrong... The panorama version you have chosen here is very well adapted for those pictured buses and the barriers between the lanes.

Hi Gert,
really interesting photo, almost historical... Today Zimbabwe looks completely different... Good composition with people in the foreground and colourful buses in the background.
Best regards,

Hej Gert,
this is a very interesting documentary shot! this scene consists of diagonal lines - the long ones created by the road and the short ones created by the buses, and, in my opinion, this adds some motion to the whole scene. I don't know if I should talk about the "technical" aspects of the photo as its main value is its being documentary... now belonging only to History.
Concerning the crop, I would not crop it so tight and add about 1-1,5cm to the top (even despite the empty white sky) :)
A perfect rainy cold atmosphere, by the way!
Kind regards,
Elena

hello Gert,
I love the sense of being on a journey here and can imagine standing where you stood waiting for my bus and watching with interest the people around me.This panoramic composition works well because of the line of buses.

Gert, a good documentary style photo of a location which has changed for the worst. I do wonder what has happened to these people who wait patiently in the rain with perhaps much of their life's possessions. Tfs, Marlene
PS - have a good journey.
