Victoria Falls are located on the Zambezi River, between Zambia and Zimbabwe and are part of two national parks, Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park in Zambia and Victoria Falls National Park in Zimbabwe.
Victoria Falls from Zambia
The settlement in the city bearing the same name as the Falls began in 1901 when the possibility of using the waterfall for hydro-electric power was explored, and expanded when the railway from the city of Bulawayo reached the town shortly before the Victoria Falls Bridge you see on the picture was opened in April 1905, connecting Zimbabwe to what is now Zambia. Bungee jumping off the Victoria Falls Bridge is a highlight of many people's visit to the falls. Jumps usually run just under $100 and can be arranged from most hotels in both Zimbabwe and Zambia, or at any travel agency in town. Rafting down the rapids of the Zambezi River is another adventure with Grade 5 rapids.
Victoria Falls city became the principal tourism centre for the Falls, experiencing economic booms from the 1930s to the 1960s and in the 1980s and early 1990s. Since the late 1990s, due to Zimbabwe's political and economic unrest, the primary tourism base for the Falls has moved mostly across the border to Livingstone in Zambia.
Zimbabwe began as the British self-governing colony of Southern Rhodesia, created from land held by the British South Africa Company, whereas the current Zambia was the British colony of Northern Rhodesia.

Hello Dear Bey,
This is an impressive view, but you leave us hanging (not to play on words), did you participate in a bungie jump from the bridge? Warm regards, and have a good week.

Hi Erdrem, This brings back memory's I was stationed here for a few months at the height of the war in 1976.Nice Pov, on this bridge with super Dof, allowing us to view the white water rafters. Well done, would love to see more of your Zimbabwean photos. Have a great Sunday, Cheers Iain.
