It is the most amazing place for swimming I have ever seen. Do not think I was so brave to take a bath there! I stood with my camera and big lens on the other side of Victoria Falls, in Zimbabwe. But I was so fascinated by this view that I post it even if the sharpness is not good. Imagine sitting in water just close to the precipy of 100 m and the roaring waters of the biggest waterfall in the world. Brrr, I wouldn't do that. I do not like high level of adrenaline. And it is not safe - there happen deadly accidents.
A famous feature is the naturally formed Devil's Pool, near the edge of the falls on Livingstone Island on the Zambian side. When the river flow is at a certain level, usually between September and December, a rock barrier forms an eddy with minimal current, allowing adventurous swimmers to splash around in relative safety a few feet from the point where the water cascades over the falls. Occasional deaths have been reported when people have slipped over the rock barrier.
A BRAVE Zimbabwean tour guide is presumed dead after plunging 90m into the Victoria Falls while trying to rescue a tourist.
The man was accompanying several western tourists on the Zambian side of the world’s largest waterfall. Here, tourists swim dangerously close to the tipping point of the falls, only prevented from falling by a slippery, submerged lip of rock.
The tour guide quickly grabbed the tourist’s hand and successfully pulled him back into the pool but in the process, he slipped and fell into the gorge down below.

Hi, Malgo, my neighbour today,
when I saw this view, I understood, I 'd like to go next trip. But I don't know yet my next place. Attractive view of the Devil's Pool. I think, this is good relax for these people after African heat.
Have a nice week!

A touch of foolhardiness is required to swim here I think. A good capture of this dangerous occupation that can have fatal consequences as your note points out.

Lorsqu'il fait très chaud, tous les points d'eau sont attrayants, même si ils semblent dangereux.Ici, le moment est beau vu de loin. L'ensemble est d'une belle netteté.

very unusual and interesting place, i like view of young people which are cooled in water. Nature is great.

wonderful shot this, and what a place to go for a dip. Looks a bit dangerous though, but there is always someone who wants the ultimate adrenaline rush. Stunning imagery and thought provoking commentary.
Have a good week - Brian.

widze ze zdecydowalas sie na odmiane i porzucilas na chwile Australie.
Bardzo ciekawe miejsce, swietnie ze zalaczylas dodatkowe zdjecie z szerszym otoczeniem. Odwazni (albo glupi) ludzie. Ja bym sie pewnie bal. Interesujaca kolorystyka roslinnosci.

The foolishness of some people is sometimes hard to understand. Either they could slip and fall and break their necks, or they could swim further upstreams and might get eaten by a crocodile. I would prefer to use the hotel pool or just take a shower. But these people gave you a good picture anyway and the sharpness isn't much worse than I usually accomplish with my cheap camera.

I hope those people have good balance! I don't, so I would never go anywhere near the edge of a waterfall! This capture is a great combination of a natural wonder, and some crazy daredevils. :-) The WS gives a great sense of how large the drop really is. Together they make a nice presentation of this beautiful spot.

The length of the river is giving depth to the comosition. The pint of view is showing the details and colours of the waterfalls. The haze has a special effect on the colours. Have a nice day.

the name seems appropriate, it would not seem so dangerous to swim, but after looking at the WS I realize the danger of the place, great POV and beautiful adrenalinic scene...
have a good day...

I like the very pleasant colours here, is there a mist from the waterfall that softens the scene? All the people add life and interest too.

Some adrenaline junkies are ready to go so far to get excitement. I mean I'm not afraid of heights, but I know that wet stones are slippery. This may be the most dangerous stuff I've seen in TE!
Quite impressive shot even though we don't see how high the fall is. (Maybe vertical version could show that better?)
Ecureuil (506) 2013-07-31 11:42
une photo qui dégage beaucoup de joie de vivre apparente ou pas. Un coin de nature près des eaux les plus tumultueuses du Globe.
Une vue qui semble un peu brumeuse en son centre.

How wonderful places with this beautiful waterfall, I love watching the water jump at these places, curious people situated on the edge of it, I guess the place is of no risk of falling.
Wonderful background with that thick grove
With perfect definition and brightness can enjoy fine details in the image.
A good day of light that gives a nice range of colors.
Very well done. I love the image.
Have a nice day.
All the best.

I learnt about Devil's Pool a couple of year's ago when browsing around on TE, but the POV in this image is really much more powerful. Thanks for showing us such an amazing and unique place.
