This is the first of many images from my visit to southern Africa in '99 that I hope to post over the coming weeks and months, thanks to the fact that I finally found a lab who can do professional neg scans. These two were eager to meet us as we arrived in the village of Mukuni just outside the city of Livingstone for a day visit out of Victoria Falls across the river in Zimbabwe. Their village hosts tour groups as a way of supplimenting their incomes and promoting their culture. I was touched at the friendliness and openness of the people of Mukuni despite their obvious hardships. My visit to southern Africa and particularly Mukuni changed my life.

Hello Steve (and Ioana)
Such a scene is so typical of Africa. I really love the way children welcome us with huge smiles and a lot of excitation.
It is noticeable that this is a scanned neg, but anyhow the result is very good and sharp. Maybe a bit too bluish ?

Beautiful double portrait, beautiful smiles, indeed! I like the fact that they are not looking straight to the lens. Simple but great composition and framing, great light managment. Congratulations!

Hello Steve (and Ioana),
I always love to see the photos from very exotic places like this one. This shot is so typical but also so very natural faces of these children create amazing atmosphere.
Despite its a scan - quality is really good.
