Photographer’s Note

Clean water is a scarce resource. UNO did a very good job in Uganda by helping local people to build water wells. UNO also distributed among local people thousands of yellow plastic containers which they daily use to bring clean water to their homes. Very often they have to carry those containers for significant distances to reach the tap with clean water. In spite of all these life complicating conditions, the people are very happy.

Ordinary life for many people and such happy faces, a great photo capturing daily life where people can still be happy

This is an interesting color. There is not so many pictures from this country on TE. I like the green dominante and the scene around the water.

Well captured daily life scene ... makes one ponder on how lucky we are living in a develop country... we turn the tap and we get instant drinkable water. DOF is very good and nice candid shot. Well done ... tfs

I agree that the DOF and focus is perfect. I enjoy the girl on the left with the sunflower skirt, the attitude, and I wonder what she has balanced on top of her head

Very beautyful picture of the sometimes hard daily life in Uganda. I like the scene, which shows the 3 girls having fun together despite of the work they have to do. The sharpness is exactly at the right position, wonderful colors and still it gives an idea of the surrounding there. very good...

visiting 7 african countries myself in 2002/2003 i know how badly is local water treated and how important is to protect fresh water sources. I'm glad to hear that thing are getting better these days! And i also absolutely agree with you, that in spite of all these life complications, the people are very happy and would share even the very last drop of the water!

Hi Michael - a bit posed, but the focus is spot on on the subjects, nice depiction of daily life, and fashion, the mix of ttraditional fabrics and the faux Hello Kitty T-shirt on the woman at left is interesting.

Hi Michael,
thank you for such a ncie photo: it conveys a kind happy air showing that people can be and are happy even without any modern conveniences around them. It's all in people's minds, not what is around them that makes them happy.
Very nice picture, excellent colours and contrast, very good POV and accent on the girls collecting water.
