Photographer’s Note
One more to fill my map here. Also a bad scan :( During my vacation to Tunesia we made a trip from Port el Kantaoui, nearby Sousse, ElJem, Gafsa, Tozeur, Nefta, Douz and back to Port el Kantaoui. If you are in Tunesia don't just stay at the beach, there is so much to see ! (Mostly sand in the deserts *ggg*) But it is a great adventure if you are only used to western civilisation. I will never forget the hard braking of our driver in the middle of the night right in the desert. We woke up and with one eye we still saw in the light of the headlights the wild herd of camels crossing the street.
Now to the picture, also amazing if you are used to green nature is the feeling after driving through the desert for hours to arrive at an oasis. Where does the green suddenly come from ? What kind of feelings must this have been given to travelers a long time ago without cars ??? Finally in heaven !

A great little oasis. Nice photo, it takes a lot of time and travel to get a great shot like this one. Definately expands my view of the desert.

Good, interesting subject. Yes, some problems with scan (but I am not good at this too - so I can not give any advice)

Great note Jan. Although the scan is poor I like this picture. Your downlooking perspective really shows how misplaced this oasis may seem and captures the vastness of the desert. I think it's also interesting to see a picture from the desert without sun.
You made quite a trip I must say, but you should have gone to Sbeïtla as well when you where so close.

Fantastic view and composition. I am beginning to really like scanned photo effects - the colors and so on leave an impression like that of "old" photos even with all their scratches, etc. The faded distant horizon gives great scope to this scene. Interesting area and note, and I'm glad I've gotten to see it here, if not for myself. :o)

A good composition, Jan, that reflects your point perfectly. I like the way a row of trees are growing long the narrow gap between the two rocky ridges. In the background we can see the inhospitable desert. Well seen and framed.
