Medina is an Arabic word generally used in Northern Africa to refer to the ancient parts of a city. These medinas are a living city with centuries of history, and fascinating to explore on foot. A wonderful place to walk about in this small and lively medieval quarter of Nabeul where time's relentless script has spared the narrow streets or 'souks' from a vanishing way of life. Located around Avenue Farhet Hached there are lots of hidden small shops around jammed together in covered passageways, a labyrinth of narrow streets and dim corridors. You never know what is around the corner when you explore the medina. One moment you may be walking on cobbled streets. The next, you are walking through an archway, only to come out of it to see highly decorated blue doors, white and grey walls, a truly magnificent place for photo opportunity.

Really excellent. Great shot, taken at the right moment, with the perfect mix of colours *the red on top of the blue of the door).

Hello Abmsudi ,
Excellent perspective through this dark arch , towards the woman and the blue door . May be it wouldhave been better one second later , to get the woman in front of the white wall , but it is very difficult to get the best timing .

Une image qui n'était pas facile à exposer et pour tant c'est réussi avec cette dame au fond de ce porche.

Splendid picture with excellent control of the light giving all the detail of the textures on the old walls. The perspective is wonderful and I like the lady walking passed the blue door.
Kind Regards, Ann

excellent way to focus the attention with this compo from inside the tunnel to the open light
Eye catching red scarf and blue door
Impressed by the light management, no overexposure and shadows not blocked
Extremely well done Abmdsudi

corjan3 (2003) 2011-03-01 11:33
Wonderful atmosphere capturing one's eye in the FG for a while to explore the subtle detail and then leading it to the COI with the activity and the pleasant colours and pattern. Very good indeed.

I like the light at the end of the tunnel. Good exposure management

Well done, Abmsudi!
You found a very good way to frame the lady and the blue door!A real Tunisian scene, with good colours!Even the arch is well placed, on the right!
AKITA (15125) 2011-03-01 17:47
a beautiful picture of very artistic composition from your unique POV,
that red lady and blue door on white wall are almost illusionary, seen through from dark arched passage,
actual light and colors, and the ambience look like in dream of labyrinth,
thank you for your excellent shot,
ManuMay (34357) 2011-03-01 22:09
Excellent composition and light management here, subject placement is really good contrasting to the blue door, an opportune moment for your capture!!
Have a nice day...

Nice challenging composition. a local passer-by is perfectly put in the best place, and a dark part is very carefully and expertly depicted. Superb image.
Warm regards, Hisashi

le contre jour est bien réussi ici, c'est un art difficile qu'il faut pouvoir maitriser en jouant sur quelques paramères. Un POV et un cadrage parfaitement adéquats.
My best regards.
dkmurphys (44657) 2011-03-02 1:20
Very beautiful graphic composition. Quite a great POV. The dynamic is good, the light is well managed.
Have a good day.

The dark passage opens up to a fine view of a colourful woman against a door of a contrasting colour. A little pleasant picture seen from the inside of a passage with an interesting texture.
Urs (14082) 2011-03-02 5:27
The tunnel view really works wonders, especially with the woman walking at the other end of the tunnel. Very good light management as well. Very good photo job.
everlasting (14195) 2011-03-02 7:34
technically perfect and very pleasing to the eye. Your well chosen POV and good light management pays off well. maybe the image would have benefited from having the door moved a fraction to the right:)
holmertz (34669) 2011-03-02 7:44
I suppose you found this perfect place for a street photo and waited patiently for the right moment. The light is perfectly balanced and the woman is well placed in front of the blue door, walking towards the centre of the open area. This picture shows what could be achieved by seeing the opportunity and planning ahead.
CLODO (27690) 2011-03-02 8:53
You found a good place, and waited for the perfect moment to get this woman going in the right way just in front of the blue door.
vasilpro (40687) 2011-03-02 13:35
Wonderful composition, lovely light and colors, excellent POV, interesting details, very nice perspective, beautiful scene.
Warm regards, Vasilis.
Elaine_Blath (8509) 2011-03-03 5:45
very good diagonal composition here, that is the first thing that struck me, and also that details in the darker shadows are still well visible...well managed photo!
Have a nice day, Ivana

Une image réussie tant dans le cadrage, la lumière pas des plus facile, le top avec l'arrivée de la dame, bon détails et couleurs, belle réalisation

I was going to comment this photo of yours the other day but then I was tired and went to bed...
It's a kind of composition which I like and I usually try to take when travelling. Arches and long corridors like this one are very good for focusing the attention on the main subject and to give the impression of a sudden appearance. Here you managed to have this kind of tunnel in diagonal and this gives a good sense of depth enhanced by the darkness which gradually turns into light. A real glimpse of the daily reality of this country.
JFS (32457) 2011-03-03 10:27
Excellent management of the light, great day a day shot with splendid color at the background. Good work, as always!

mi piacciono moltissimo questo tipo di immagini in cui il punto focale diventa uno spicchio di luce da cui viene fuori una splendida scena e colori bellissimi.
La composizione è perfetta sotto ogni aspetto.
Complimenti amico mio.

What a beautiful idea take a pic like that from the alleys of Nabeul! I been there and i know very well this city.Impressive composition and fantastic light balance, great sharpness and colors too. Thanks for share, have a nice day,Luciano
danos (80967) 2011-03-05 8:24
nice the snapshot throught out this narrow alley of Medina.I like your readiness to catch the moment from the passing by woman in front of your lens.Excellent the light and the colour management.
jafadabret (56497) 2011-03-05 23:45
La composition est magistrale. Les arches sombres débouchent sur la lumière qui illumine une belle porte bleue sur laquelle se détache la femme qui semble faire ses courses.
siolaw (37644) 2011-03-05 23:53
A good idea to shoot through the tunnel... light intensity differences are well controlled. Good timing too for the passer by just entering the scene.
kato (11106) 2011-03-06 2:13
Well composed, excellent tone and an interesting daily life shot!
You approach well this scenery from archway, so catch a woman who was covered of red scarf where wagon is pulled and it walks. And, the whole is harmonized well by shading effect and entite color balance, I think.
Angshu (53982) 2011-03-10 2:12
A fine capture this! The first challenge you would faced & overcame with aplomb is the exposure difference...looking out from the shadowed tunlle to the outside, without any hint of OE! You got the lady also in the precise position thanks to the fine timing & the backdrop of the blue door IMHO is also a big plus. Good work my friend...befitting an accomplished photographer like you!
Juntas (7958) 2011-03-17 10:49
Hi Abmddsudi. Very nice composition. Colors are beautiful and light was well captured in a situation where that is not easy to do. Grea the addition of the lady passing by and very good sharpness. A fine work.
Have a nice evening.
jmdias (50359) 2011-03-25 2:59
very nice the framing where you put the tunel in the best way and waited the exact moment to get the woman passing by. very interesting shot, well done
Bournazel (6331) 2011-03-29 1:38
the good shot at the right moment !
Nice compositon with the red on the blue door
tusharkmandal (3169) 2011-04-26 0:00
Brilliant composition and excellent choice of POV. I like the way you have waited for the moment and tripped the shutter. The exposure is very even and soothing to eyes. Perfect in a wide frame.
Have a nice time
mafegan (8622) 2011-08-28 22:04
No doubt you waiting a while for someone to walk past the archway - and lucky she has a bright coloured scarf. Your patience has been rewarded with a stunning capture. Cheers, Marlene
macjake (49328) 2011-10-17 1:08
great shot my friend!
what a beauty!
i bet you waited for someone to walk by didnt you, and if you did, good for you:)
it was well worth it.
the dark arched tunnel provides a natural lead-in, and theh light at the end is full of life and color.
one of your best

Hi abmdsudi !!
I have been looking at this picture for quite a while , it has an element of intrigue.
But I think that technically it is perfect and not easy to capture.
the dark foreground changes gradually to a background full of life.Great work
now.....you are a clever boy.... the red car is a work of art in a Museum !!!

I really like pictures like this, taken from a darker point and showing the interesting depth before they show the final part with the color and light. A very simple but very beautiful picture!
all the best
