Photographer’s Note
Looking for a true Arabic environment and lifestyle, I haven't found it in Port El Kantaoui. In contrary, apart from one good restaurant, the rest is fast food 'european style' - a complete commercial rubbish and waste of time!
The astronaut was there to give false promise to the kids waiting to be taken to space... I was hoping he might have got a slot just for me, to get me outta this place ASAP.

Hi Robert,
When I saw "Tunisia" over the thumbnail I thought that it was something related with Star Wars, although it is a NASA astronaut. I think I understand what you mean, specially if you really had hopes to find anything Arabic in Port El Kantoui, a place that I only saw once when the bus that transported me to Tunis passed though it, but looked even more plastic than the place where I was coming from, North of Monastir. I went there for beach holidays with the family, so I wasn't disappointed at all, namely because I wasn't expecting much, but I managed to have a good time strolling in Sousse and Monastir a couple of times, places where I went using the train.
About the photo, I find it quite achieved, well composed and amazingly clear and sharp.
Regards, José.

Holy Molly...
Why I wasn't informed that a NASA program has moved to Tunisia from Florida..?
After the entire US production moved to China, what's the next:
The White House moving to Pyongyang, and the Pentagon to Vladivostok ???
:-)))))
Good shot, Robi...
Some 'aeronautic' quality in it... That dark, mysterious background ???

You went to the moon, Robi?!?! Ah, ok, now that I've read the note I can see that you wished for a ride to the moon, or some place as far from here as the moon is... ;-) Well, I think you should add the humourous category here :) Anyway, this b&w is just great - nothing to do with the place I guess, but the out in the space mood is fantastic. Great shot and presentation.
cheers,
ric
P.S.-it took me almost 24h to update this critic - TE isn't working well at all...

Not what we expect to find in Tunisia. To my untrained eye he looks like the real deal, so I understand your disappointment. Your next post could have been from the moon. I wonder in what state you would have had to place it.

mass tourism has spoilt everything... everywhere i go looks like a theme park to me lately... so i am not surprised with what you had experienced in tunisia robert... and i like the shot of course as it reflects the irony so good... the light on the astronaut is the best, and B&W works well indeed...
all the best...
