Photographer’s Note

Chott el Djerid (Arabic: شط الجريد) is a large endorheic salt lake in southern Tunisia, at 33.7° N 8.43° E.

It is the largest salt pan of the Sahara with a surface area of over 7,000 km² (some sources state 5,000 km²). Due to the extreme climate with annual rainfall of only 100 mm and temperatures reaching 50° C, water evaporates from the lake. In summer Chott el Djerid is almost entirely dried up, and numerous fata morganas occur.

South of Chott el Djerid, the Grand Erg Oriental desert begins. The towns of Kebili and Douz are also located south of the lake.

The lake can be crossed by foot and even by car, but this is very dangerous since the salt crust isn't always too firm.

Chott el Djerid was used as a filming location for the Star Wars series, among others.

Very interesting and a strange view that I like to observe - maybe the salt could be a bit less blue-greyish, I'll try just to convert the colours in a WS later on, if you don't mind but I like your composition !

Ciao Luciano!
Guardando le tue foto non ho potuto fare a meno di notare questa che mi era familiare!
Io ci sono stato in fine estate però, facendo un tur delle oasi con le jeep.
Se non sbaglio questo è il solito hotel 5 stelle da me fotografato che si trova proprio a metà della strada che attraversa il lago in prossimità di un punto di ristoro (oppure è uno che ci assomiglia molto).
Anche io ho pubblicato 3 foto scattate in questo punto, ma come potrai vedere lo scenario è ben diverso in quel periodo. ( se hai tempo dagli un occhiata le trovi tal quelle della tunisia ovviamente).

Dalla miniatura sembrava una spiaggi al mare e non il lago salato qual è: bella e interessante composizione che mette in luce sià il colore particolare del lago che la spaziosità intorno.
La lingua del lago sembra puntare alla capanna!
