Photographer’s Note
Actually, I stayed a few days in Tunisia in September 1975, before going to Algeria.
In those days of regulated air traffic there were few cheap tickets available to the less popular destinations, so the best way to reach Algeria was to get on a package tour to Tunisia. I spent one night in the tourist hotel on an isolated beach before heading off for Tunis and then to Algeria.
This picture from the Kasbah of Tunis was scanned from a Kodachrome slide.

Hello Gert,
I like this sight which describes the daily life, with a framing and a realization which has nothing to do with amateurism. Superb coloured image, with the well managed light. congratulations.
have a nice day

Hi Gert, I wonder if it has changed much. I mean, I was in Tunis Kasbah two years ago. I think that yes. Specially this bare foot girl looks very oldfashion. Interesting photo. Now Tunisia is very popular touurist place. Was it so popular that time? Not for people from Poland, we could not travel so much.

Hello Gert,
This faint green tint shows well a characteristic of old Kodachrome. An attractive local life featuring a barefoot girl foot has been vividly captured with favorable strong contrast.

Hej Gert,
this is a photo taken in '75?? The quality of this shot (ok, a scanned image - especiallt the FG part) makes me think it was taken with a digital camera on a very hot day when the shadows were deep and hot, too... and the day was full of sunshine.
I wish I had had such good quality films when I first started taking photos with my very first camera!...
I like the perspective view; it is interesting to see the details and go back to the past... and I ask myself again: how much has changed there since then?..
Kind regards,
Elena

Hello my dear Gert
The color from kodacrome is very very good and makes a good mode. Her bare foot is meaningful.

Hej Gert
I dont know but I have a feeling that in a way it was easier in a lot of ways i Northern Africa then. Very poor but not as radical as now not as polarized and more secularized at least this image conveys that kind of happy innocent expression.

Hello Gert
On this day in Tunis, much like most days in Tunis, everybody is going about their business. Great colours for a scan and also sharp and clear. Tfs, Marlene

Hello Gert, When I first saw this I was not sure if it was a new or an old one, I looked at the date taken & read your note. now I am certain & can say that this is terrific scanning bit of work, it has an old look to it but it adds to the mood & atmosphere. Nice shot of these people going about their daily chores, I suspect that it would not be very different today.
Thanks

hello Gert,
good POV with the young girls in the background with the narrow lane behind. The wooden stick/pole on the lft in a little distracting unfortunately. But nice light and colours.

Hello Gert,
I am reading a book by one of your colleague in journalism - Robert Fisk - who writes extensively about this part of the world - Tunisia, Algeria - and its very nice to be able to read him and see the countries through your eyes. This one is brilliantly composed and very well composed.

Hi Gert,
Nice daily life scene in Tunis. You have also done a great job at scanning this photo. I can't really find anything wrong with this picture knowing that it's quite old. It brings back great memonries because I have also spent a few days in this beautiful city. TFS.

Paul

Gert, this is a really fine capture. the frame is fully used and the people seem to be going about their business without paying attention to the camera; times have really changed on this I think. Fine color and detail and wonderfully crisp focus, great stuff.
