This Blue and White City is called Sidi Bou Said.
Its in the northern tip of Tunisia, just outside the capital of Tunis.
The city lays along the Gulf of Tunis, and into the Mediterranean Sea.
The town is named after Sidi Bou Said, a 13th century Sufi holy man, who settled there on the return journey from his pilgrimage to Mecca.
All of the Villas, cafes, restaurants...everything in Sidi Bou Said is painted Blue and White. Even the doors and window dressings, which i will upload a photo of at a later time.
This paticular scene, is of a Villa on the left, and the small blue door on the right is the entrance to a beautiful quaint restaurant.
This is a must see, if traveling to Tunisia.
Thank you for looking!

Wonderful shot of this beautiful town. It brings back memories...I was here in the late 80's with school. It's an amazing place. Great composition with wonderful light, beautiful colours and wonderful details. Great work!

What a beautiful place. It look so peacful and inviting. The blue colors of the doors remind mi on Chefchaouen in Morroco.

This is a nice shot of these blue and white buildings. You have managed the light well showing the white buildings without glare. The trees frame the shot nicely with the ocean providing a good backdrop. The overview is nice and makes it look like a model city.

Très belle photo, tout à fait caractéristique de Sidi Bou Saïd. Jolie composition en bleu et blanc et belle lumière.

Impressive gallery you've got going here on TE.
Lovely shot, the composition is good although I'd like to have seen the bottom of the door in bottom centre of frame. I know a bit picky but everything in the frame is so interesting to look at.
Great colour rendition, the blue and white go so well with that beautiful sea and sky.

Tunisia looks like a wonderful holiday destination! The blue & white colours remind me of Greece, at the eastern end of the Mediterranean. Superb sharpness, saturation & framing. Tfs!

You have a thing for blue, and it transpire in many of your photographes that I see in your gallery, which has a great collection of beautiful images. I enjoyed them very much. This one is a fine example of you your wonderful work, great composition, well manage light, soft texture, not overly contrasted. The only thing I find a bit too intense, not particularly on this image, but some others are the blue sky is a little too intense, but that is my taste. Thanks

Nicely composed with the palm counterbalancing the trees on the left. The variety of blues are very nice here. Even the bike is blue.

Hi Craig, in thumbnail I thought this was Greece, but am delighted to see such a country so under-represented here on TE. Those blues and whites are superb. I like the composition and cropping to give the best effect to that amazing building (the door is beautiful). The horizon's nice and straight too (wish I could say the same for mine). I think a smaller aperture of say f/11 would have got you a sharper DOF, but overall it's a killer shot. TFS and warm regards from Sydney, Lisa.

Hi Craig, I know this view from the Sidi Bou Said, with all elements so attractive. Nice composition with the typical Tumnisian door and palms.

Une belle image de cette petite ville en bleu et blanc, bien cadrer laissant une vue sur la mer, beau contraste avec le vert, même la moto est bleu, j'aime cet endroit ou je retournerais volontiers encore et encore

The most beautiful view about this lovely tunisian village, nice light and colors with this blue ... a good memory for me, but when i was here, this view was not perfect because some people at work were in front of the door !
mauro61 (52857) 2009-10-19 17:09
una composizione molto pulita con degli ottimi colori e una splendida luce.
Bello il POV con la palma e il mare sullo sfondo.

Tunisia has a lot in common with Greece, not only because of the houses colourful facades, also about history.
I like how you use the contrast to let the blue emerging from the white tones. The blue colour is relacing and the variations of it gives to the picture somekind of serenity.
Thanks a lot for sharing this.

A good pov overlooking this nice corner of the town, seeing the sea is good because the blue elements work very well together with it

I like the composition of this picture, the diagonals made by the walls, and, of course, I like these nice colors. The white and blue buildings, the sea, and the green trees : it is like a painting.

with a daring composition and great perspective and POV.the colors are simply superb.

one more interesting view from above of this beautiful city.I like the unique blue and white of the scene as the trees that exist and make the scenery more attractive.

Very good quality of the lights and the colours.
Nice place for good holidays.

In these times that days started to be short, gray and rainy, it's a pleasure to look at this summery and Mediterranean view. Tunisia in its best, at least for the eye! Wonderfully composed, very attractive colours well rendered. I have been twice to Tunisia, having used its airport in one occasion, but I don't know the town neither the neighbourhood region and one of the reasons for that is I keeping a strong pretext to return and know a place I didn't know before.
dta (79098) 2009-11-04 6:26
Hello Craig ,
This one is a pleasure for the eyes , too ... and for the soul . The place is superb , no doubt . But your composition is really perfect , with a excellent POV .
I think there is a little lack of sharpness . I make a WS

Fantastic- countless tones of blue and sparkling white... also the palm tree nicely holds in & fills the right side , so very nicely balanced composition.
pierrefonds (67563) 2009-11-13 17:36
The trees are framing well the villa. The point of view takes my eye toward the horizon which is giving depth to the composition. There is a good contrast between the colors of the walls and the colors of the doors and shutters. Have a nice day.

A lovely composition.
Very nice palm tree and Tumnisian houses.

nice summer capture with white mediterranean buldings.
Good colours and view - give relaxion.
ikeharel (72903) 2015-06-12 6:18
A mix of Greek styled white & blue colors of the walls and houses, with a North-African carving on the doors and windows also in typical blue.
Strong daylight of the Mediterranean countris that i also recognize.
Fine POV to a beautiful scene.
*** As mentioned, almost long view of the walls from the square just bellow the tower, as the link shows.
