The dining room of the Crystal Symphony. The elegant ship, the Symphony, was sailing off the coast of Tunisia when I spotted a glorious sunset, and in the foreground, flowers on display on a dinner table. In order to avoid a silhouette of the flowers I used a fill flash.
The peaceful still life is a far cry from the violence the area witnessed 2400 years ago, when the Romans launched the Second Punic Wars against Hannibal's Carthaginians. I had visited Carthage about a decade ago, but on this cruise the ship did not dock in Tunis.

Hello Bulent, there is just a little reflection of your flash in the window, however it does not detract from the overall charm of a nicely balanced photograph.
Very nicely done.
Best regards Les.

We don't often see a still life on TE and certainly not in combination with a sea view. And even less when the sun is setting.
Beauty can be found in a small corner and also with a view of the wide horizon.
PS: Did you go on land in Tunisia?
Best regards, Paul

Merhaba Bülent Bey,
Minimalist ve Elegant bir çekim. Bu özellikleriyle thumbnail goruntuden hemen gözüme çarptı.
Çok başarılı kompozisyon.

This is certainly a peaceful shot, no hint of conflict, here!
You have positioned the camera well, to create a nice, diagonal from the focal vase to the setting sun. The two verticals split the frame into thirds, great for composition.
Well seen and well executed, my friend,

Bonsoir, cher ami Bulent,
Merci de nous faire voyager d'une aussi belle façon. Un moment magique qui s'offre à nous à travers cette composition.
Une bonne façon de s'évader de la grisaille quotidienne.

hello dear Bulent,
We sea you here so rarely, why? lovely com position from the see. Original photo of the sunset with the orchid flower. Peaceful photo. It is a pity that the ship didn't dock in Tunis. Worth visiting even if you were there before.
Warm regrads Malgo

The combination of the rolling water, the glass and the soft muted light and colors makes a very gentle and appealing image. This is enhanced by the soft shapes of the flower petals on the plant too. Very nicely seen and captured moment.
Thanks as always

Excellent orchid close-up photo with very well balanced colors and nice light, very good vertical arrangement with nice background. It was an excellent idea to include the down going sun. The well-chosen tight crop eliminates all unwanted distractions. Well done.

I read in your text about the war 2400 year ago, we are 2400 year later and still have the people not learned out of it past, everyday see we the images out different countries with gun violence.
Your picture is a very nice "Still Live" with the flowers in foreground but also the view about the sea through the window.
Sharpness and clarity be superb.
Very well composition also a lovely view about these area.
Nice done, TFS.

Hello, dear Bulent,
Amazing contrast between so dramatic historic events and this so nice still life. Simple but interesting composition, I miss the sun, the Ural is covered with the snow.

Buon fine settimana

A simple but very suggesting composition, the result made even more intense by your historical note about the bitter fighting that happened in those same waters when two of the most powerful ancient civilization eventually collided.
Sharp details, delicate colors, and overall a perfect result.
Thanks for sharing

Hello Bulent. A photo for the eye and soul. The title is very fitting. With this view of the sea and in the distance we can follow our thoughts and feelings. Un the medium for this purpose the wonderful flower is in the foreground. Very nice.
Best rgds, Wolfgang.
