Photographer's Note

Medina is an Arabic word generally used in Northern Africa to refer to the ancient parts of a city. These medinas are a living city with centuries of history, and fascinating to explore on foot. A wonderful place to walk about in this small and lively medieval quarter of Nabeul where time's relentless script has spared the narrow streets or 'souks' from a vanishing way of life. Located around Avenue Farhet Hached there are lots of hidden small shops around jammed together in covered passageways, a labyrinth of narrow streets and dim corridors. You never know what is around the corner when you explore the medina. One moment you may be walking on cobbled streets. The next, you are walking through an archway, only to come out of it to see highly decorated blue doors, white and grey walls, a truly magnificent place for photo opportunity.
