Photographer’s Note

The category says it all ...daily life.

The women of West Africa are probably the hardest working women I have ever seen. All day every day, with a child on the back and a smile on the face. Always time to help a stranger or offer a helping hand.

This was taken in a village opposite, directly south, of Togoville on the opposite shore of Lake Togo. I have to dig through some notes to find the proper name. Also sorry about the back, but the baby provides a little bit of variety and shows a bit of the problems West African women have while working.

This is a beautiful picture, i love the colors from the woman's dress, her and the baby's posture... Shows also a very touching concept, as you say in your note, how these women work hard and their attitude.

It's nice to see you back on Trekearth. This is a sensational shot of the young mother, carrying her child on her back, and balancing a heavy load on her head. I had heard about the amiable nature of the people of Togo. It is good to hear confirmation.

Hi John,
a decisive moment shot! Well done!
In order to enhance this beautiful photo, I would have removed 1 inch at the bottom (path is not so important) and 1 inch at left (remove this antenna), and so the woman would be on the strong point of the picture.
