Near Kpalime, 150 km off Lome, a Frenchman, mister Vialle, built a castle at the top of a hill, after World War II .
This castle has been confiscated by the government at his death and has been used as a Presidential residence up to early eighties. Since then, the place is not maintained anymore and there is just a warden to watch the place.
It is quiet an unusual view at the top of an African hill. you can visit it, if you leave a small tip to the guard.
You will have another version of the story here : http://www.montogo.com/fichiers/chateau.php (in french) |
