Photographer's Note

A daily life shot from Kpalimé, the major town of the plateaux region and the place for buying fruit, cacao, coffee and vegetables that grow in the fertile hills around the place. Also a great spot for excursions to the surrounding rainforest and butterly safari's.

Bonsoir, mon ami Gerrit,
Qu'il est bon de voyager d'une aussi belle façon. De se retrouver dans un lieu inconnu et découvrir la vie quotidienne des habitants.
L'ambiance générale est parfaitement reproduite à travers cette très bonne prise de vue.

Hello Gerrit,
I think it is the total "normality" of this glimpse of daily life that could be anywhere in Africa that once again gives me an urge to go travelling. Nothing spectacular, just ordinary people living their ordinary lives and the idea that I could be there, trying in vain to disappear in the crowds. The most ordinary aspect of this photo is probably the narrow strip of asphalt remaining from when the street was paved way back in maybe the 70's.

Hello Gerrit,

This is a fine documentary of everyday street life - where people come and go, doing their business as any day..!
The market around the corner is probably the attraction in this part of the town, and it seems like the two ladies are heading there for shopping...
The red/brown gravel sets much of the mood in the scene!
