Hi Tobias,
Excellent portrait. Sharpness is very good on his face and the way he looks with his eyes are very good captured. The red and blue from his shirt bring colour in the image, but also his dark skintone is really shining.
Maybe his face a bit tight to the left edge, but it's not really disturbing me.
A fine and decent portrait...very good work.

Tobias, Welcome back, did you see any snake? I remember you asked me on TN, if there is alot of snack in Tanzania.

Great close portriat of the Masai man. His facial expression is very well capture with details. Nice colors on his clothes. He looks very sad. Life is hard on that part of the world.

Ein tolles Portrait von einem guten Winkel aus aufgenommen.Ich schließe mich Hank an,der einzige Kritikpunkt wäre ,daß das Gesicht zu nah am Rand ist......
aber das ist Geschmackssache.Schärfe ist einmalig und die Farben toll.

Great and sharped portrait but maybe too close from the left side of the picture. Just a bit more space to open the face will be enough.

Hi Toba,
also ich hab dir ja schon in der Schule gesagt was ich von deinem Bild halte, aber dann schreib ich das mal für alle:
Dein Bild ist super, einfach wie sichs für ein gutes Portät gehört, gute Schärfe, klasse Farben, gutes Detail und guter Fokus auf das Gesicht des Massai. Mir gefällt vor allem die Ausdruckskraft des Bildes. Der Blick des Massai ist echt super und sagt viel über das Leben dort aus. Also ein echt starkes Porträt. Zu dem (winzigen) Problem mit der Position des Massai, liegt vielleicht am Rahmen, hast du das mit Photofiltre gemacht? Wenn ja hättest du das vielleicht mit der Funktion "Rahmen außen" machen sollen, beim einfach Rahmen geht immer was vom Bild weg. Also den Rahmen würd ich sowieso ändern, er erschlägt das Bild so ein wenig und das wollen wir doch nicht, weil ich mich nur den anderen anschließen kann das Bild an sich ist super und echt profimäßig und ich hoffe du nimmst mir diese kleine Kritik nicht übel, ich sag einfach was ich dazu denke. Bei deinem letzten Bild fand ich den Rahmen deutlich besser, weil er dezenter war und einfach besser gepasst hat.
Aber ansonsten ist es dein mit Abstand bestes und du hast das hervorragend gemacht, technisch 1a! Also danke, dass du dieses Bild mit uns teilst, klasse Arbeit!

This is a wonderful portrait of the Maasai elder. You chose your DOF well so the blurred background doesn't distract from his face. By composing it like this as a three-quarter face we also get to see his ear-rings.
You asked where we went in Tanzania. Serengeti (of course) Lake Manyara, Tarangire, Ngorongoro Crater, Zanzibar

das is echt ein schönes portrait. Schärfe im Vordergrund is sehr gut auch der Hintergrund ist sehr gut gelungen. Aber weil Mark ja bestimmt gern seinen Vorschlag sehen würde, post ich dir nen Workshop ( nicht dass du dan meins, ah der Kris meint immer er könnte alles besser^^ Nur damit du mal marks vorschlag siehst)

ich haette bei diesem aus dem gesicht mit der selective colour die blautöne hearusgenommen, dadurch wirk das bild etwas kuehl. der gesichtsausdruck ist interessant !

Excellent portrait, Toba. A pitty the smaller size, but we still can apreciate well the details. You manage to get an intense expression, making an attractive picture. His eyes are great and I like all those wrinkles - I would never say that he's 95years old. It's a little tight on the left side, but it works.

A marvellous portrait. Excellent crop, very good use of shallow DOF. The glassy mischevous eyes look at you & you've captured them very well....but if I have to nitpick, I would say you could have kept a little more space on the left. But that said, this is Excellent work Tobias!

A great portrait indeed! Surely the model is photogenic, but much of the merit goes also to the portrayer, for choosing the right POV and achieving such high level of clarity and flawless DOF and light management.

finally I know the secret of longevity! Eat beef and drink blood and milk. This masai doesn't look 95 years old at all. He looks like me at age 45!
Wonderful portrait! You got it very well with the background nicely blurred to keep the attention on these very dominating eyes. A little bit space to the left would bave been good. Why is your post so small and not up to the allowed 800 pixels?

Hallo Tobias. Sieht man Deine üblichen Motive, fällt das Portrait aus dem Rahmen. Aber das Potrait ist hervorragend. Es zeigt in dem engen Rahmen nur das wirklich Wichtige. Der Blick des Mannes in die Kamera ist direkt und intensiv. Dies steigert den Wert des Photos. Für mich ist es ein gelungenes und beispielhaftes Photo. Wirklich hervorragend. Viele Grüße, Wolfgang.

wow, this is one darned good shot, friend. love the expression on the man's face. clarity and light is great. and i am amazed to learn this man is 95... it seems, massai diet is working wonders... :) as to the small size: i do not speak german, but i sense pboehringer has given you hints how to handle the 800 pix/200K requirement.

It is unbelieveable, he has just finished watching a BBC film about wildlife around Masai Mara!
This portrait is excellent! You handled very well the zoom lens and the light, too. The details are fine as well as the depth of the field intentionally blurred.
