Wonderful composition and I love the warm tone here, perfectly matches its content. The silhouetted boat is just perfect, with the triangular sail arching the island in the background. Even though you included people and even refered to them in the title, I think this is one of the sunset pictures that could well stand up without them - nothing beats a well excecuted chliché ;-)

sun sets are idyllic ...i guess,it's hard not to take a picture if you are around with a camera....it's the 'golden hour' when everything you look at takes on a different meaning all together...here the monochromatic tones with the boat sailing by in the backdrop, the ball caught in suspension, the silhouetted figures around it gives this picture a feeling of someone in deep contemplation...

ps:i liked your 'the race' picture..its amazing...

J'ai tout de suite reconnu cette scène que j'ai vécu tellement de fois. Devant l'African house, les couchers de soleils sont célèbres. J'aime bien le dynamisme créé par les silouhettes.

Ah, this is not a sunset picture... Well, at least not a real one. ;) I like these pictures of yours, pushing the exposure to the limits, in the boundaries of under/over exposure... We really share the same passion for street football. This weekend I shot some with the Belem Tower acting as the perfect background and here you have that "beloved" sunset. Besides the round little ball, what I like here is the crescent shaped boat. That's my favorite element in the picture. The way you outlined the elements is really good.

superbe image Luko! j'aime bien le ballon qui survole l'estomac du pauvre mec qui dort et qui va peut-être se prendre la balle dans la tronche en se reveillant, cette barquasse qui aurait pu être vue aussi à ASSOUAN et ce sépia que tu as choisi ici!

Hmmmm, maybe it is simply that sunsets automatically have to clear a pretty high bar for me, but I can't say that this is all that appealing to me. For me, the biggest issue is that there is an awful lot of sky that doesn't have any particular detail. The action on the ground looks good, I wouldn't mind having more of the ground showing. Pleasant tones.

what can i say...there is a great atmosphere..the atmosphere of a beach sunset..

A good effect that the washed out sun provides here, giving the island and water a silver lining. The two lifestyles/hobbies of soccer and sailing clearly standing out against the bare scenery.

C'est cool cette photo, bien paisible. J'entends presque le vent ds les palmiers (que j'imagine egualement). Je sais pas si les couleurs etaient vriament comme ca ou si c'est savamment trafique, en tous cas c'est esthetique.
J'ai regarde ta gallerie sur Ibo sur Pbase. Geniale! Grand Avenue me plait particulierement.

Nice shot; it has all the characteristics of a summertime, dream away day :) I think the football in the air gives great balance to the boat's sail. Your composition and color really makes this an enjoyable and fulfilling end of the day (sunset) shot.

the sails shape is very attractive and is placed so that it feels like, with the boat reaching the edge of the frame, the sun would simply go down on the whole scene...inevitably...cheers, arturo

The orangy monochromaticity is really cool here, gives a lot of ambiance.
I don't like the large amount of burnt out sky though. Less sky and more silhuetes would have more punch.

Luko: I think you joined the other refugees that have vacated this site for reasons either personal or professional. I like TE and try not to get toooo serious about the whole thing. After all, it's an open democracy to learn. Oh, and your shot here, fine as usual - but the gently tempered lighting and the 'freeze-frame' approach are sure winners. Belle photo de ces jeunes, un qui joue deux qui regardent, un qui se repose.
La scène est bien prise et l' arrière plan est superbe avec cette légère surex qui fait ressortir la scène et ce felouque si particulier a ces régions.
L' île dans le fond donne une belle profondeur de champs.
