| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
A typical elephant day is dominated by the 16 hours of FEEDING that it needs to support its great bulk. This feeding is done in several periods during the early morning, late afternoon, and during the night.
Elephants will SLEEP 4-5 hours per day, sometimes leaning against a tree, standing or lying down.
Other activities include the search for new food, MOVING to drinking holes. If they have the opportunity, elephants will drink every day, though they can go several days without water.
After drinking, elephants will often wallow or spray themselves with water followed by dirt or dust. A good coat of mud is a prevention against biting insects and burrowing parasites. |

Fantastic pic of elephantes! So warm colours and good compo! TFS!
Hi Kris,
This is a fantastic shot of what looks like a mother and child. Very natural colours. It looks a little over-sharpened as there is some pixellation / artefacts around the tops of the ears. However, superb photo. Regards, Paul.
Very good colours and composition.
Excelent picture with very good details

Wow! I'm jealous Kris...
I haven't lived in Africa in since the late 70's (when I was just a toddler)- but I would love to make a trip back. Especially after seeing shots like this.
Excellent levels as nothing seems to be over/underexposed- realistic colors without anything being overblown or seeming unnatural. My only suggestion Kris would be slight cropping adjustment of approx a fingers width from the right and about 1/2 a fingers width off the bottom. Thus taking the centre of the image off the adults trunk- making it not so centre (rule-of-thirds etc.)
A small point Kris on an otherwise superb image.
All the best!
