Walk with the Giants
 |
|
| [Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
It felt surreal to walk through this forest with the clouds surrounding us. The plants are so tall. What seems to be a very thick trunk is nothing but dead leaves that fold onto themselves. Only the leaves on the very top are green. In the bottom parts of the plant, where the leaves may have fallen out, you can tell how skinny the wooden trunk really is. It reminds me of the legs on an old man showing from really loose trousers.
This shot is taken on our way down from Lava Towers to Barranco Camp, at 4,000m. The people portrayed are my girlfriend and the guide.
A special thanks to the guide, who not only dragged us to the summit, but also was an experienced naturalist and botanic, and the porters, whose ability to carry extraordinary weighs is just amazing. |
