Very interesting shot Femke. It must be weird to see such colourful "make life better" house in the middle of nowhere. :) Great!

Hi Femke, good to see you around. This is indeed a fun find from the middle of nowhere, with the seemingly out-of-context ad on this hut which also provides a colorful photographic interest. A pity the photo is not a bit bigger, but the offbeat scene still translates well. Have a nice weekend.

Hi Femke,
This is a really interesting shot, with the bright red hut in the middle of nowhere, definately very African. Like the contrast! And the goat makes it.

Hi Femke, great to "see" you again.
A wonderful catch with thi amazing color and this odd scene. A very clever title, as well.
Take care,
Yitzhak.

I'm glad you posted this picture as it helps to draw into focus the differences between what the west think African's need and what Africans actually want.
To put this into context, I spent several months in Africa looking at the telecommunications industry and how much demand there is for telephone services, internet, etc...
To cut a long story short, the second most important utility that most people want (the first being fresh water) is a telephone. This is above electricity, gas, fuels or any other type of service. Demand for telephone services in Africa is very very high and a lot of work is ongoing to ensure that they have access to at least some form of real time communication (phone - whether mobile or fixed).
Celtel is an interesting case study of an African company which has grown quickly and expanded to meet the basic requirements of the people. It really is an African success story - something that western people don't often give African's credit for : yes African people can set up businesses and run them better than their western counterparts.

This is a great idea. I've been in this part of Tanzania so I know how odd it is, but for those who haven't maybe more of the parched background would help.

Hi there Femke!
This is a really nice photo! The house and its colours seem a little unexpected here but it's really great. I like the calm of the animal in front.
Was it close or did you buy anything there?
It's really nice and interesting.
Regards, Anabela

Hoi Femke,
Groet,
Harko

Femke: difficult to ignore the blazing reds in this one. I think it would've worked nicely in evening light as well. Salient composition. regards, c
