A repost of my first ever photo on TrekEarth. Have tried a different crop, and also used USM which I had never heard of way back then when I joined TE :-)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Most kids smile or laugh or hide or cry when you point a camera at them. This little fella in a village near Mtae in the Usambara Mountains just kind of gazed into the camera, holding back a smile as if it was all he could do, not to laugh at me!
Hello Phillip,
Nice portrait. I like the fine POV in your composition. Perfect DOF!
Best Regards,
Ali Rıza
Hi Phillip,
Much better than the first post!
Still some things could improve the picture, I made a workshop to be helpfull to you.
Hope it does :)
Great portrait, Phil. I have not been too much around TE lately, so mea culpa, but it's a sahme you got only 4 pts for this one. Even his T-shirt is speaking volumes towards a very expressive image.
I like it very much, Phil.
This picture is simple but so deep of tone.
Great shot.
PS : When you post foto of Indonesia ??
Hi Phillip,
great portrait. The skin and the shirt of the boy is a wonderful composition.
Congratulations,
Wagner.
great composition. think the square format really suits this image. i'm looking forward to visiting Tanzania sometime soon as my friend is out there working.
A really beautiful portrait. The childs expression and clothing leave me with mixed emotions.
Hi Phillip,
Very nice close-up of this kid. Sure looks like he is just about to burst :O) Really sharp with good details of his face and I like how you have added the child behind him using a great dof.
:) Tina
I got here from the main page, currently the featured critique is a text about an average photo that got unbelievably many smiles. I read Your critique and I agree fully; I am more and more disappointed with TE, it's obvious it doesn't promote good photos; the easiest way to get a good score is too give many good critiques and fish for a compliment.
I looked through Your gallery and saw many interesting works, but this caught my attention immediatelly; the boy has such unusual face expression! I also like the technical aspects - it's way better than the original version.
