I guess my heart might have been broken more than once; but the day I came across this little boy (and his sister), it really hurt.

I was sitting in a jeep and felt horribly uncomfortable by the painful, scared and hungry look on the boys face. I stopped the car, got out and noticed that behind the bushes the little boys house was nothing more than a cloth attached to a few wooden sticks on very dry land; no cattle no nothing.
The boy got a little scared when I approached him, but I emptied my backpack and asked the chauffeur to give it to the kid.

There is few times in my life that I have felt more helpless and useless. My food just didn't taste the same that night.

I have a son of 19 months...so your note and your image are terrifiant for me.
it's too strong for me to watch it.
we did long distance adoptions some years ago: 2 boys, one in Ghana and one in Liberia, with a Missionary organisation of Milan...butwhen i see and read something as that...nothing is good.
ciao

Hi Sabine. A fantastic photo, it is strong and moving... your note adds that that emotion... it is a harsh reality for so many people... but also hard for some people to come to terms with when they come face to face with this person's reality. Well, i prefer the color version...

Hi Sabine,

This is so good!!! So really really good!!! One of those shots you should have printed in a big size and hang on the wall. Great expression of this boy. Shy, sceptical and wondering. I can not make up my mind which version I like the most. They are both so good, but for hanging on the wall I think the black/white.

If I dont "talk" to you before the weekend, I want to wish you a nice trip. Hope everything is okay with the visum.

Take care and enjoy every moment.

:) Tina

Dag Sabine,

groetjes,

Luc.

Very impressive. Makes me think. Well done. Regards!

See Sabine, what I was saying in my previous critique? Et ta note me touche également.

Emma

A bientot
Luan
