You have no idea how tiring it is to be a hippo...
If you want to watch these enormous animals you have to posses a steel patience as they can stay for hours in their pools ‘relaxing’. These very active hippos were spotted in the Ngorogoro crater: a truly magnificent spot on earth. Ngorogoro is a volcano crater with an impressive treasure of wildlife and most incredible African views. |

good morning Sabine
that one hippo is rebelling against the rest of the herd:) look at the big yawn. very funny. and those birds, as if there are no other spot in the area for them to land on, but on top of a hippo. how convinient! The direct sunlight is a nusiance, killing some of the detail in the crater, but this picture is just really really fun.
a steel patience? so you are associating patience with strength. I like this definition a lot. By this token, a piece of wood is not patient, because it can easily be broken in half, and in parallel, someone who is not patient can easily be broken.
on a different note, Ngorogoro me sueña muy chistoso.
any case, good shot.

Hi Sabine,
nice shot of this "islands". I think they must be really big. I like this strange look and five tourists on an island. Thank you for your steel patience. This is really nice.
