[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This photo was taken in a spice market in Stone Town, Zanzibar. I personally have never seen this type of display anywhere else. There are several things I think about when I see this photo.

For one, places like Zanzibar are not entirely made up of idyllic beaches. They are steeped in deep tradition, and have strong culture beyond tourism. This was one of the least "shocking" images from that market, which had various vendors selling just about every part of an animal imaginable.

I feel this picture teaches people in the West about not wasting the food, about understanding places that they visit, and about questioning their own values.

The initial reaction to this photo was rather negative. I got the impression that the food in this market was in some ways considered morally reprehensible, not being presented in cellophane and styrofoam.

Take whatever message you will from this photo, but there is no victory in judgement of the image!

but i dont need to see this kind of picture to save food.

I think your comment to the picture is quit right. It shows us daily life in another culture. We have to respect that and we can often learn of them.
