Hey Toba,
wow das muss man irgendwie erstmal verarbeiten. Wie die da so leben aber trotdem so alt werden. Meinst du eig. die Frau ist glücklich? Schwer zu sagen.

Tobias,
glad that you posted this one. The body langauge is a very strong one. A lot of pensative elements here. I wonder what was going through this head while you were taking the shot. A certain disbelieve? Frustration of having another tourist poking a lens into his/ her face? Melancholy about something totally unrelated? ....
The framing is perfect and gives all the right elements to make it a great portrait. The red, partially blurred, skirt in the foreground with the little holes in it is great to give some additional info regaring the vestiment of the person. The fact that it is blurred is good because it doesn't distract the attention of the real attraction - the face.
Th eonly minor problem is the skin's reflection at the forehead. That light source bothers me somewhat and I wonder if a polarizing filter could have taken care of that.

Hallo Tobias. eine alte Massai-Frau. Sie wirkt müde und etwas skeptisch. vielleicht ist sie auch durch das Photoshooting etwas mitgenommen. Interessant sind Kleidung und Schmuck. Interessant was sie sagen würde, wenn sie ihr eigenes Portrait sehen könnte. Viele Grüße, Wolfgang.

They are amazing people, different though, I don't agree with many things they do, but I'm not one to judge. That's was their way of life for generation. It slowly changing. I didn't have too many photo of them, since they don't like to have their photo taken. This one is good, with great clarity and sharpness. Nice strong and saturated colors. Very good portrait of the old lady. You have captured her in a sad mood, or maybe she has a headache. You also have captured excellent colour and detail of her adornments. the predominantly red clothing of the Maasai is very eyecatching. Well done

So. Das Motiv gefällt mir sehr gut! Guter Blickwinkel! Die Farben sind auch gut obwohl das Bild für meinen Geschmack ein bisschen mehr Kontrast vertragen könnte. Aber vielleicht ist das einfach die Sonne, die die Massai-Frau blendet...
Der Rahmen passt!

Very strong color of the dress to contrast with skin tone here to make it striking. The woman's expression is also very unique with her hand over the face to make it as natural without posing. This tribe is one of the world's intrique even shown in movies. Good portrait shot well composed.

Hi, Tobias -

A very good, expressive portrait. I am a little surprised you were able to get such a candid shot of the Maasai; usually they are much more aware of cameras and pose - and charge - for them.

The WS does improve this a little bit in some ways, but it also blew out the forehead.
