Serengeti NP, it was an overcast day with heavy dark cloud moving in it rain an hour later. I was zooming in for the Acacia tree and the impala or gazelles appear from the horizon. Which make it more interesting.

Okay, a few of you ask why I didn't get the whole tree. I post a workshop. I was worrry that it may be too center compositionally, but it turn out good. Let me know what you like better. Thank you for your thought.

The Serengeti ecosystem is located in north-western Tanzania and extends to south-western Kenya between latitudes 1 and 3 S and longitudes 34 and 36 E. It spans some 30,000 km.

The Serengeti hosts the largest and longest overland migration in the world, a semi-annual occurrence. This migration is one of the seven tourist travel wonders of the world.

The region contains several national parks and game reserves. Serengeti is derived from the Maasai language, Maa; specifically "Serengit", meaning "Endless Plains".

Approximately 70 larger mammal and some 500 avifauna species are found there. This high diversity in terms of species is a function of diverse habitats ranging from riverine forests, swamps, kopjes, grasslands and woodlands. Blue Wildebeests, gazelles, zebras and buffalos are some of the commonly found large mammals in the region.

Hi Way!
Excellent composition with the low horizon, the lonely tree and the gazelle. What a pitty that the tree is cut at the left side.
Great shot with only three well contrasting colors.
Regards,leo

Hi Wayne, excellent one, minimalistic composition with the giant tree and the lonely impala lost on the Serengeti.
excellent POV and quality too and amazing pastel tones.
thanks, ciao

Hello Wayne!
Wonderful place and really great composition with beautiful colours and nice point of view!
Excellent done!
Best regards!
Lili

Hi WayNe
Very beautiful picture with this tree and this gazelle.
I like very much your photo, but why didn't you turn the camera just a little bit on your left side to catch the whole tree. And for the animal it would be better too
Anyway, very good work
Alain

Hi wayne
very good picture
I saw a lot of scenes in Tanzani
I love these trees and the great wide fields
mostly in the serengeti np
which park did you prefer?
good picture
Toba

Nice shot, but it's pity that you've cut the tree.
Cheers, JC

Hi Way,
The position of the tree is probably a matter of taste! As far as I am concerned, I also prefer the version with the whole tree. Perhaps you could crop the photo on the left, so the tree would not be in the exact center, but without cuting it.
A compromise between your main post and your WS would be absolutely perfect :-)
Effectively, it is a great moment you share with us, with this gazelle appearing at the right moment!
Regards,
Marianne

Amazing photo, very sharp details, and very good natural colors, the composition is great

Greetings

olá, a very simply but beautiful composition. the tree and the gazzele are a very good combination for a photo! the contrast between the colors of the sky and of the grass is also very good. congrats pedro

Hi, Wayne
A tree-lover like me can't neglect this lovely tree. I like the contrast between its size and the frail silhouette of the animal.

Hi WayNe, You have composed the photo beautifully & captured excellent light, however I have seen the W/S & agree with Leo, the tree is not to central & its a shame you never posted that one, as it has the whole tree in, saying that this is a wonderful piece of work & TFS, kind regards Wilson.

Trees of Serengeti.
This is my favourite subject.
And your is a gorgeous example.
Well done!

I really love how much sky you stretched into the picture.
The skies there feel so unbelievably vast and spellbinding, and you certainly captured that!
best, Lisa

Hi Way, I like this one better. Very simple but very effective composition with this tree and the (is it an) Impala. The profile in colour between the grass and the sky too was a very good choice for this shot. I played a bit with chopping some sky, but I think you made the right choice here. The large sky makes the whole scene, and country seem larger.

Thanks Way, enjoyed, John

Sabidy Way, I totally agree with Leo and I prefer your version in WS. It's not too central and besides it's balancing with the gazelle. Well, maybe I would give a bit more space to the right and less to the left, but that's a small detail. I also like to see more golden FG and the pp that you applied, making it a brighter and more attractive image. Beautiful 1 + 1 scene.
ric

indeed we can say it's a pity you cut the tree, but by watching the WS i realise it's finaly well balanced, in fact better than the WS
nature minimalism at its best
regards
jo

Hello WayNe
nice composition with this characteristic lonely tree of the National Park and the impala that is searching where to go.Nice the colours and the light in the Serengeti NP.Informative your note too.

Ciao Way,
simply stupendous, a true homage to the nature and the Africa. The composition and the photographic technique are excellent. Good job, compliments.
Paolo

Hey,

Classic Africa - a lone acacia tree in the savanah and the gazelle. Well framed like this - you cant go wrong.

Hi Waylim,

There are many wonderful photos on TE but often it is difficult to find them. I saw your answer to my question about Lao cakes. Wonderful picture of Serengeti. My dream is to go to black Africa one day but I haven't the courage yet.

Hi Way,
It's an excellent picture and you are right. Yes, it's even better in your WS. It would have been a pitty with part of the tree.
Cheers
Marc

hello Way
this is a really beatiful picture!First,I thought that it would be better with the whole tree, but when I saw your WS,I found you were right to put the tree on the left. It's more beautiful like this!I also like the low horizon with the gazelle on its line, and there is a superb light!Very well done!
Have a nice day.
Pascale

Way
What a cool image. A lone tree against the overcast grayish cloudy sky created such a very simple but beautiful composition. The little antelope adds wildlife element to the simple landscape. The low POV works great so the tree is nicely constrasts against the sky. The way you show more sky instead of more foreground makes it feel even more open and free.
Another really good one out of Africa.
SL

Hi Way

Pleasant composition. The position and shape of the tree is significant within the frame.

I am pleased as the gazelle energizes the scene in a very natural, beautiful colors and proper lighting.

John

Very beautiful picture. It has a lot of Africa in it.
Very good

I always find these lone and swaying masaimara trees extremely wonderful and you have really composed this well bring out its beauty so nicely

Simple, yet fabulous composition. As a matter of fact, O prefer this shot to the one you show in the WS. It looks better balanced. Regards, Yvonne

hi way
hope you are doing fine. i love the clarity of the shot. however, it would have been even better if you could have taken the full tree into frame. the placement of the deer is perfect. good work...

Hi Way!
This one almost reminded me of my lonely trees. You know, in a way, the south of Portugal sometimes reminds us of Africa. The composition is good with the impala on the right side and the lonely tree on the left. The one in the workshop is great because of the tree that is complete, but I like this one.

Hi,
wow, what a perfect composition. Pictures like this one remain in your memory for long. Thanks for sharing!
Michal

Hello Way Ne Lim
Many of your shot make me dream and this one particulary, she's well composed, unfortunately for the tree uncomplete, but perhaps was there something on the left that you prefered not to show.
You took a good moment and it's pleasant.
Thank's for sharing.
Chris

Hi Way,
first of all let me say congratulations for your beautiful gallery! full of interesting shots..like this one for example; this is the kind of shot I'd like to take. Serengeti is on top of my wish list and I hope to have the chance to get there in the near future.
The compo speaks for itself, with the big acacia dominating the scene, with the gazella balancing the compo. Quality seems to be very good throughout, with a good light management and exposure. I like it a lot!
Thanks for sharing it and regards,

Igor

Hello my friend!
How nice! That´s a beautiful picture, just very well captured.
Just amazing how you captured this scene (the small animal looking at the huge tree)
Just great!
Take care,
Kris

hello way

i've missed this beauty you have posted a while ago. wow... i love the scene. with the little deer staring at the the huge tree. i do like the workshop version better. i wish i could combine the two though: giving the deer a little of the space you have allowed here (on the right side of the deer) and getting the whole tree in as in the workshop.

both are fantastic nature shots though.

regards,
kristaps

Hi Way,
wondeful shot of Tanzania! The tree, placed nicely of center and the animal to the right. The others already told you how great that one is, so what should I say? It`s great, thanks!

Take care
Mark

Hi Way!
Another wonderful photo from the savana in Tanzania! I find it perfect and not too centred.
The colours are very harmonious, the little gazelle is a very good contrast with the large tree and the immensity of the savanna that we can easily guess from your photo. I prefer the original.
Thanks for sharing!
MarieLouise.
