"If I know a song of Africa, of the giraffe and the African new moon lying on her back, of the plows in the fields and the sweaty faces of the coffee pickers, does Africa know a song of me? Will the air over the plain quiver with a color that I have had on, or the children invent a game in which my name is, or the full moon throw a shadow over the gravel of the drive that was like me, or will the eagles of the Ngong Hills look out for me?"

Karen Blixen, portraited in "Out of Africa" by Meryl Streep, say the words above, which are among the most melancolic but rather truthfull I have ever understood. Last week the director of this master piece of film making, Sydney Pollack passed away. There wont be more The way we were or Tootsie, all is left to say is thank you Mister Pollack, it was a real pleasure.

Bonjour Miguel, I am not surprised to find an ode to Sydbey Pollack by you. On the contrary, I would be surprised if you hadn't posted one.
This is a lovely photo Miguel, and I think it renders the image that I have of the film, very well. I'll never forget Meryl Streep in that roll, I think. I didn't know actually that "Tootsie' was from him.

Hope, you are well. I am terribly busy, gone almost every night and a family weekend next weekend.

Hola, Miguel. Un homenaje bello a un verdadero maestro del cine narativo. Su gran trabajo para mí era "They Shoot Horses Don't They" (de 1969). También admiro "Three Days of the Condor." Pues, aquí recuerdes bien la historia de Isak Dinesen que fue transformado en una peli memorable por Sr. Pollack, pero a la vez montes una foto que nos hace pensar en el pasaje de un ser de este mundo a otro. Gran homenaje para un gran director, emotivo y bonito.
La foto es un buen detalle y además agradable a la vista y a los sentidos.

Pues me sumo al homenaje y a la contemplación..
Crees que los espacios "infinitos" como este provocan sensación de libertad o de soledad?quizás de ambas cosas?y que pensará la cebra de todo esto en sus pocos ratos libres de su ardua tarea de sobrevivir a los depredadores?
