[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is the second photo I have posted from 5895 meters. The sun is rising as we stand on Uhuru Peak - the highest peak on Mt Kilimanjaro and the roof of Africa. This view is looking across part of the crater and the jagged peak of Mawenzi (5149 meters) is on the right. You will notice that the snows of Kilimanjaro are melting.

Hello Marlene,

Trully amazing.. what a height ! and you can see the clouds down. But,we didn't know what was the approximate temperature up there at the time you took the picture.

Hussein

Hi Marlene,
An impressive photo! the air must have been pretty thin at this altitude? Facing into the sun works well as you now have the beautiful rays of the sun in the photo and soft warm light catching the rocks. I don't really get too much of a sense of being up high though, but it's still a fantastic shot.
Thanks for sharing!
Regards
Lee

A charming pic, with the soft orange light and the sea of clouds that seems in continuity of the snow on the peak. If it's really all what remains from the initial quantity, it's frightening!

Marine

Hello again!
This is really wonderful place - at a such great height! Very impressive!
Despite the shot has taken against the sunlight, that light does not spoil the picture. To the contrary, it emphasize some coldness and severity to this place.
Kind regards from Russia, Igor

Hello Marlene,
another shot of something unique. A crater at the top of the famous Kilimanjaro. Nice morning shot of great clouds circling the mount. Pestel colours and lovely reflections andtones.

Foozi
