[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
A Red Colobus Monkey in the Jozani Forest on the island of Zanzibar. It is amazing how these monkeys are not afraid of humans - I was just walking through the forest with the monkeys running around and playing right next to me. I thought this one looked like a real character with his expression.

This is a great portrait, with excellent sharpness and beautiful colours. Did you ask permission for the take and/or did you promise to send back a print out?!!!
Antonio

Hey David,
A great portrait of this guy and his cool expression. Great use of depth of field to blur out the background and the green is a nice contrast to the monkey. He also fills out the frame nicely.
I remember these characters well with their wild hair standing up like that.
Regards
Wanda

Hi David

Superb use of a shallow dof, to isolate & emphasise fg detail, of the monkey. Good sharpness & framing. I like the look of surprise & shock on it's face. Tfs!

Hi David,
I don't know how rare these animals are, but you're quite lucky to see them up close. Great shot! His expression does stand out.

Shaeri

Wonderful portrait of the monkey. I love the expression you have captured and the catch-lights in his eyes. Add that to the wild hair and he certainly does seem like a character. Excellent choice of DOF to remove background distractions. Well done
Kath

HI David
It looks like you got quite close up to this chap, and the expression on his face is just fascinating! The focus is good, and the textures on his face are so clear and sharp against the blurred surroundings. Really well caught portrait.
Regards, Susanna

Hi David
Your wildlife photography is of a really high standard. This is a wonderful shot with excellent definition in the fur and face of the monkey. He certainly has an expressive face!
Cheers
Lyndall
