Le temps s'est arrété à Zanzibar.
Depuis la splendeur des épices et la honte de l'esclavage.
Depuis les révolutions et les crises de confiance.
Depuis la décrépitude des palais et l'usure du climat.
Le temps s'est arrété à Zanzibar.

Alors, il y a des hommes courageux qui montent des projets utopiques, qui risquent tout, qui sortent de la troupe.
Ils cherchent à bousculer les habitudes,
à relancer le temps.

Time is over in Zanzibar.
Since the splendour of spices and the shame of slavery.
Since the revolutions and the crises of confidence. Since the decrepitude of the palates and the wear of the climate.
Time is over in Zanzibar.

Then, there are courageous men who assemble utopian projects, which risk all, which leave the troop.
They seek to hustle the customs,
to start again the time.

Hi Bertrand,
Your note about the slavery in combination with your picture is really excellent. Time Is Over...it sure is, although there are still some countries in the world who think different. The boy on the right is cutt-off, but the one at top shows good detail...

en voyant cette photo , j'ai immediatement pensé aux photos de Charles C. Ebbets sur la construction des immeubles a NewYork au debut du siecle.
ta photo est magnifique, aerienne ,d'une composition parfaite mlengant les lignes et les courbes, et la forte position de la presence humaine potentialise l'ensemble.

Non suelement l'image est meveilleuse, originale le contrase entre le rond de la montre et les tubulures qui partent dans tous les sens et impressionnante, mais ta note fait réfléchir, eulle beau commentaire accompagne cette image pleine de réalité, félicitation.

B&W photos are not much abundant in your gallery, and i bet, this would be a great B&W, that everyone would be proud to have in his gallery. Along with your short descriptive notice, the event now becomes a powerful symbol for the courageous people of Zanzibar. The compo is sooo original and interesting, and even though its strong symbolism, it is amazing to see your good eye for geometry. An excellent, "timeless" job! Congrats...

Bonjour, Bertrand. Un étonnant échafaudage - qui ne m'inspire pas vraiment confiance - dont la fragilité contraste avec la solidité de l'ancrage de l'horloge qui le surplombe. Mais comme tu le dis dans ta note, il faut parfois prendre des risques dans la vie et ta note colle parfaitement à l'image.

Bertrand,
I have not enough time to come here when I was in Tanzania. So much to see and so little time. This one is excellent, good POV looking up the sky with the boys working on the fence. Very good composition, The clor against the blue sky and the boys so dark at still very much details on the his facial expression. I find it hard to capture a good portriat of people with this dark skin, if too much light, it reflect bright reflection on the face with make it too dark or too bright. In low light, they almost just a silhoutte. This is a good one with nice story to go with it.

Tu as un talent spécial pour capturer des silhouettes élégantes et intéressantes! Cette horloge d'un autre temps qui suspend le vol de l'ouvrier prêt à risquer sa vie sur un échafaudage de fortune!
Peut-être la couleur du ciel donne-t-elle une touche d'espoir, qu'un jour les choses iront mieux dans ces pays de misère!

super cadrage sur un échafaudage comme seule peut offrir l'Afrique!Pourtant l'homme semble tout à fait à l'aise et décontracté!Le ciel en toile de fond donne une impression vertigineuse!La pendule et la branche d'arbre rendent belle cette photo qui n'aurait pû être qu'humoristique!

Une situation un peu intrigante au premier coup d’œil,
Je n’ai pas tout de suite pensé à un échafaudage pour atteindre l’horloge,
Mais plutôt à une construction faite par des jeunes pour s’amuser au funambule !

C est vrai que le temps s 'est arrete a Zanzibar , c est vraiment l impression que donne cette ile apres l' agitation de Dar es Salaam. Mais des africains qui reparent une horloge, c est vraiment une situation unique !!! Tres bien vu ! Geraldine
