The best known area of the island's capital Stone Town is the historic center, available since 2000 as a World Heritage Site under UNESCO protection. Most of the brick houses were built about 150 years ago from coral rock, many are being renovated and restored. Great efforts in this regard makes the Aga Khan Trust For Culture (Historic Cities Programme), which already renovated the Old Dispensary and the Old Customs House. In addition, in collaboration with the Stone Town Conservation and Development Authority, a comprehensive plan for the preservation and creation of the historic center was created, which among other things provides for the redevelopment of the waterfront Forodhani Garden.
On the picture you could see one of the famous wooden doors of Stone Town.

Hello Achim - a pleasant daily life shot of Zanzibar here. Your setting is great: the doors are most impressive and offer a nice contrast to the surroundings, while the man on the bicycle is a perfect addition, lending life and motion to the shot. Good light management in harsh daylight as well. Thanks!

The presenc eof the cyclist is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details and the colors of the facade of the building. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

It is very satisfying to learn that so much is being done to restore and preserve the history of the area.
This is a great view of the Stone Town doorway, detailing its patterns and design. It is very beautiful and contrasts strongly with the walls either side.
I'm not sure if the cyclist was an accident but I suspect you waited patiently to get him strongly placed before you pressed the button! He adds human interest to the photograph as well as highlighting the strong composition.
My warm regards,

Hallo Achim.

I have seen pictures of this town from a distant POV...impressive door and I can only imagine the weight of the wood. The timing of the shot is good as the cysclist passes by. Another interesting shot from a not so seen place!
