Photographer's Note

On the weekends people living in the town come in the afternoon when it is cooler to the small beach in Stone Town to have some fun.

A typical dhow comes in from a sunset cruise, and so ends another day under the African sun.

Hello Wanda,

Very nice mood on this shot. Especially for the full golden-orange sky giving a bit unreal place. We are really in an other world.
The boats are very important in the composition and in the rendering of the depth with the 2 tiny boats on the horizon line.
The only point which could be discussed is for the deep of field. Here I would have better seen a full deep of field to get people sharpn in foreground. Long focal lens are sometimes difficult to use for this matter. However, as the first boat is sharp, it is working, but I feel the foreground is either not enough sharp or at the opposite a bit too much. Of course, it is also related to the size of the post. Printed in large size, perhaps my feeling would have been different.

Good golden hues to impact the silhouettes on the beach or bathing in the sea. The dhow gives the indication in which country the picture has been taken.

Nice beach scene. I like these silhouetted young people enjoying the end of the day at the beach. The presence of this dhow is of course an essential element and it immediately places the scene in Eastern Africa. Pleasing details like the two dhows far at the horizon and the ball in the air.

hi wanda,
the african sun looks to be superb. we are constantly living under thick grey, toneless skies at present. what a great way to end the day, clear skies, lovely beaches and cool sea water.
your composition with everyone silhouetted against the sun is very effective. the light has created lovely colours in the sky and created fantastic reflections on the water. superb picture.

very nice spectacular shot from coast line at sun set time...like the people activity at the beach with taking their afternoon bath...the sailing boat in the sea add a great dynamism here...
good chosen POV...very DOF controlled with good light management with nice color tones & sharpness...

A beautiful scene full of life and happiness. The orange sky is incredible and I like the numeros silhouettes we can see. The boat with the old triangular sail is a great element in the composition, breaking the skyline.

Hello Wanda,
I get a bit envious when i see that this photo was taken only some more than one month ago (while Europe is freezing). The elegant boat and the surrounding crowd of silhouettes make a fabulous photo. Details like two small boats on the horizon and the ball thrown up in the air give further fun of investigating.
