The blue-green sea of Zanzibar makes every picture with a dhow succesfull.
A dhow is a traditional Arab sailing vessel with one or more lateen sails. It is primarily used along the coasts of the Arabian Peninsula, India, and East Africa.
Up to the 1960s, dhows made commercial journeys between the Persian Gulf and East Africa using only sails as a means of propulsion. The freight was mostly dates and fish to East Africa and mangrove timber to the lands in the Persian Gulf. They sailed south with the monsoon in winter or early spring and back again to Arabia in late spring or early summer.

Hi Kris. You get a very good photographer, place him in a place that has marvellous light and topography and wonderful people, AND you get photos such as this one. Great composition with the three different stripes of colour. The brightly clad individuals add that extra interest. Lovely.

Good shot Cris.
Fantastic colours and super composition.
The colour of the water is amazing and against the clothes the colours are further enhanced. I love the traditional craft, this momentary shot is very nice. Well done.
Have a look at the traditional UK fishing boats of the fisherman.
Have a good day.

Hi Kris,
Good framing! That's the first thing that strikes me. Not easy such a boat. The 2 people in the water just give it something extra.
Good colors too.
Well done!

A perfect composition Dear Kris. The water's color is so extraordinary that creates an unearthly mood around these people. Nice shot.

Hakuna Matata!

Brilliant framing and luck Kris. Again the two men in the corner neatly balance the dhow, which is the main focus - they add a human dimension to it. If they weren't there or wearing bold colours it would be just another sailing boat in beautiful seas.

And your note is very informative. Thank you.

hehe the colour of the water changes so often!
YOu took a great picture of that.
nice colours
