The Red Colobus Monkey is one of the world's most highly endangered species; estimates are that there are only 1,500 left, almost all of them in the Jozani forest in SE Zanzibar Island (Unguja), where they are protected. They are very social and live in familial groups in the forest. Many are also habituated to humans, so when we go to the forest to find them, they quickly find us instead, running around and playing right in front of us.
This particular specimen is possibly an older monkey, from the way his fur is mostly black, though you can still see some red on the back of his neck. (on the other hand, that could be his lifelong coloring.) Although this shot is with a 300 mm lens, he did let me get quite close to him.
Technical: Levels to adjust the lighting a little, and Noiseware to cut the noise and add a bit of sharpness. |

A very up close and personal view of this endangered monkey. You shot this very well, with the green leaves providing a nice contrast in the background.
It's eyes are so big, great detail in the face.
