A Dhow setting out of Wete habour at the Island of Pemba. I thought the energy on board made a a nice contrast to the elegant sail and calm seas.

Couldn't resist the title, but as a matter of fact; while the memebrs of the dhow crew may be poor they are far from lonely and were a very friendly and joking bunch!

PS work: Curves, sharpening - that's it (considered going B/W but bailed out as I like the muted colours too much).

Very nice photo! I like the reflection of the light on the sea water and the contrast with the dark boat and figures.
I agree with you for not turning it into B&W. The shades of blue-grey, especially on the sky are very nice.
Well done!

The subject and the framing makes a beautifu dreamy image. The juxtaposition of the dark triangle of the sail and the white triangle of the sun-reflection is great.

At first I thought this was B&W the colours are so subtle. Your composition is very good and the silvery light on the water is marvellous.

Mikkel, Photos like this really give me a thrill! To know that men and women still live, what we would consider, "primitive," lives is very exciting to me. I sometimes wish my family and I could live like this.

I too love the muted colours, the sun on the sea, really I love everything about this shot. Well done!

I do think the picture would have looked better if you straightened the horizon just a bit. I have sone a workshop to illustrate what I mean, rotating the photo slightly to the right.
