It rained all night, stopping shortly we got up and leaving us with a damp morning, and a crater filled with mist. We drove along the edge of the rim for some distance, until we reached the start of the road that cut down the steep slope, zigzagging its way to the crater floor.
We descended into the atmospheric fog past mysterious vegetation, feeling like we were entering a lost world. The sun grew weaker and sounds were deadened as we sunk further into the mist. Giant, enigmatic cacti loomed from alongside the truck, seeming to appear out of nowhere.
On reaching the floor of the crater we drove a short way into the trees when, through the haze to the right of the road, a vague shadow gathered form and coalesced into an elephant. It was a magical moment as that elephant and the two that had materialised behind it slowly picked their way through the undergrowth, lifting logs with their trunks.

It must had been trill.. Can really see that the fog was really thick!

What a dreamy beautiful picture! I like the mist. It adds drama and mystery. It mucst have been a breath taking moment! Well captured!

Nice shot Serena! The image of elephants moving through the mist does evoke a magical feeling. Not sure whether it's intentional, but there's a fairly strong magenta/pink cast to this one - it gives a feeling of dawn/dusk, but at the same time doesn't seem quite natural to me. It's easily possible to make the sky more neutral using Levels if you feel inclined. You could also make a square crop if you wish - just of the tree and the elephant on the left. Also I'd consider B&W. Also it's a little heavily filtered with NeatImage for my tastes, and a little less JPEG compression would help I think. Nice note, and a good capture though :-D

P.S. I've posted a Workshop for you, see what you think!

One doesn't see that many African pictures on TE.
Well shot, good story for the campfire ;-)
In a way it's a "minimal" picture, just with the outlines you can make out it must be elephants, the bushes around a mere setting.

It is for photos like that that should inspire this land mark of a natural wonder on the world heritage list. Truly madnificant.
