A baby elephant is following its mother into the bushes of Lake Manyara National Park.
Once again our driver got a notification from his 4x4 radio, then we were on a rush to find some animals in the tropical depths of Lake Manyara Forest. We didn't know what animal it was, as the driver didn't tell until we arrived at the spot. This time we stopped amongst a thick vegetation of huge trees and bushes so that we couldn't see anything for a while. At last we were informed that there had been a big family of elephants sighted. We held our breaths, waiting for a couple of minutes, and voila! A huge African elephant emerged from the bushes, proceeding as slowly as a construction truck, vigilant at the presence of intruders. Then came another one, this time busy eating the leaves. One by one, there appeared a collection of ten or more elephans, finally arriving mothers and babies. The babies were kept away from us, until the elders surrounded our cars and decided that we were harmless (see WS photo).
We spent almost half an hour photographing them from extremely close distances. In the end, they decided to leave us on the dusty track and move back into the forest, moms and kids leaving first. This photo was taken close to the end, and this baby was following its mom into the bushes.

I would not expect this type picture of you in black and white.
Notwithstanding a very nice subject with the young elephant.
Absolutely splendid done with high quality made.
Splendid composition, nice presentation.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice Sunday,

hi Deniz, this photo has an appeal though the sharpness is not perfect. It seems to me as a sculpture curved from stone... The black and white treatment made us think so. The grains are nicely matched with this context, just my realisation. The idea of tight framing is superb. I liked it as a whole. Tfs.

Une excellente prise de vue d'un bébé éléphant (enfin, bébé tout est relatif).
Le choix du noir et blanc est parfait pour restituer les contrastes.
Félicitations pour cette réussite.

How cute a scene with the baby elephant! The black and white (or rather grey and white)option works fantastic here. It is a great pleasure to see the wild animals so close. I saw a lot of elephants in Botswana, but we didn't come so close and they were in water. I haven't noticed earlier that they have hair in the end of tail. Beautiful shot.

Tanzania'ya ya mı gittiniz?... Ne hoş valla.. Çok ilginç fotoğraflar, elinize sağlık, daha devam eder umarım. Fil de olsa, yavru davranışları hep aynı, ne güzel denk gelmiş.

Youngster following the mother step in step.I like also your B&W processing here(looks like their skin is a perfect subject to this kind of treatment). The end result looks almost like we´d admired a figures made of stone.
For me-really great!
Have a good day

It must be such a cool feeling to be so close to these amazing animals, not only the elephants but all the cool animal shots you have posted the past few days. This is once again so perfectly suited to the black and white format, the baby looks like he is glowing in the dark! Your story adds a lot to the photo too, so thanks for that.
All the best

Selam sevgili Deniz,
Daha bakalım neler gelecek Tanzania'dan ?
Derilerinin buruşukluğu biraz bana sataşma gibi geldi ama zarar yok !

I ama sucker for elephants so can't pass this one over. How fabulous to get so close! Monochrome is a good choice as it allows us to admire the textures. Pity though about the OE on the baby. But a delightful scene and I like the close crop.
