[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
It was not easy to take this photo. It took 5 days to walk here including the last day which began at midnight and ended here 6 hours later - Uhuru Peak at 5895 metres is the highest peak of Kilimanjaro and the roof of Africa.

Each morning at sunrise trekkers converge at this point from the various routes up Kilimanjaro. They are exhausted but exhilarated and will be effected to some extent from the reduced oxygen at this altitude. They will congratulate each other, watch the sunrise and then queue to have their photos taken in front of this famous sign. Many will have messages to loved ones or placards of sponsors to include in their photo. They will have been keeping their cameras warm under their goretex jackets and will be relieved if they haven't frozen up. They will be so thrilled that they are amongst the 60% of trekkers who attempt this trek who do succeed in making it to the summit.

Then within an hour of their arrival they will turn around and begin the 2 day descent.

The effort was well worth it! This is a spectacular view, with amazing colours in the sky as the sun rises. I also like the panoramic framing.

Congratulations for having summited Uhuru Peak... Your picture and the note give a good feeling on such an acomplishment !

Wow! You made it to Kilimanjaro! I was thinking of making a plan to visit this place next year and you have already set foot there! Nice view at 5895m! I like this shot. Higher than Mt Kinabalu and I was told it takes more days to reach this summit.

What a spectacular scene from above 5895 meters.
The sun rays are the other beauty part of the picture with all the mixed colors of the clouds and the sky.
You paid a high price to go up there and got this wonderful shot. It's a tough adventure.

Must have been quite an experience.
5 Days going up? isn't there an easier way:) They would have to make a road or cable car to get me there:))
Good effect with the sun straight ahead, although a view from the top could have been nice as well.
