The Maasai are famous for drinking a mixture of cattle blood and milk during ceremonial rites.
An arrow is shot at close range to punture the jugular vein of the cow. The blood is drawn into a skin gourd and later mixed with milk to be drunk by the gathering. The animal is not left to bleed but is carefully tended to, till it fully heals.

its a fantastic portrait, the bunch of the guys in the background give a unique feel to this work,
love the bokeh here, secretely hiding details in the background and allowing us to focus fully on the foreground worrior,
all the best in 2007,

Good capture of a very interesting reality. Colours are nice. TFS. Behice.

Good photo. I like to see the lot op people in thebackground as well, it gives the scene a sort of 'community'-like feeling - which the people off course are.
Also thanks for the interesting note.
Happy new year.

Kris: here's a very innovative portrait. Colors are perhaps over-saturated but I understand your choice here. Nice wide crop as well. regards, c

Great color and composition ,Kris. focusing on the single face and leaving the rest in Bokeh work very well. It's another great document of the Masai way of life. regards Kevin

The best part was that the animal heals at the end :) A great shot Dear Kris, though the colors seem a little oversaturated to me. Nice blur on the background.
