Good Friday Celebrations - Jericho Church members.
The Zionist Christian Churches are a Southern African synchretism of Christianity and pre-colonial religous practices. So, for example, while Christianity will provide the mainstay of the worship, consulting with the ancestors would be seen as a legitimate practise.
The various subgroups tend to organise their own uniform, and the Southern African veld can become a colourful location on any given Sunday with various group dancing and singing in the open air.
The Jericho Church, with their blue and red uniforms is an important branch in Swaziland. On Easter weekend there are huge gatherings, addressed by the king and various important preachers. This shot was taken outside the main Swaziland cathedral, as the groups waited for King Mswati II to arrive.

Hello Iain - Funny, I was thinking about you the other day and wondering where you had got to... and here you pop up again with a shot from Swaziland. Are you back in SA? A shot uniquely South African (OK Swazi)The vivid colours are so eye-catching. What an interesting shot of a Zionist congregation, something I've seen but have no knowledge of. Hope to see you post more often now you are back. Kind regards Rosemary

Well hello old friend
How the hell have you been? Welcome back, you really have been missed. I thought you'd been kidnapped in the wilds of Patagonia, but see you're somewhere even more exotic: Swaziland! I love this jumble of colour and bodies, it looks more like their going to a footy match rather than a religious meeting. Fantastic sharpness and great cropping, which is always difficult in compositions like this. Can't get the song by the Style Council out of my head now, but certainly showing my age :) Take care and welcome back!

I like the lively situation and the composition of the picture: coloured clothes on lower side and the ribbon on the upper side closing the image. However the eye falls on the man standing on the right side.
Have a nice day,

Nice to see you again, good to see someone return. This is sucha new feel now you are on new continent, from the shadows and found light of tango in Argentina, to these bright expressive colours in Swaziland. I look forward to see what you find from this country so many of us know only a little of.

your notes are interesting, and they tell about what is completely new and unknown for me.
these persons waiting for the king, the colors of their garments, the importance and the wait of the moment are well visible within the atmosphere of yours shot.
have a good day

You're capturing well this religious meeting by a good composition, so it's impressive and interesting to see the spectacle in which many believers have gathered wearing uniform with red and blue in the open air. It's interesting in the headband around the head, too. It is a photograph in which a sense of solidarity which lets religion pass is felt.

an interesting image, full of colors. I liked the personages and the way they are presented here.
