Pyramids of Nuri

The pyramids of Nuri are part of a cemetery, belonged to the Nubian city of Napata, whose center was at Mount Barkal.

Nuri is situated about eight kilometers in a straight line to the northeast of Mount Barkal on the east side of the Nile. It is still unclear why the Kushite rulers for their pyramids chose a place that was so far from the central temples. The presumptive residential town Sanam is located about five kilometers south.
