It's often hard for us to realise what a refugee is. Mostly we see the dramatic pictures on TV when the plight is at it's worse, but often refugees are far from their homes for many years.

I spent my Easter weekend at this simple home in a displaced (refugee) camp south of Khartoum. It's a modest plot, 20m x 10m. The huts are made of clay made from the soil around; there's no running water and few can afford the electricity.

They people that live here have not seen their homes & villages for nearly twenty years since the war began. Hopefully this year things will change - until then it's a tough life.

Taken in the shade it's not a perfect picture but it tells a story. One thing to note are the little flower pots; not many bother to try and make their home this bit more cosy.
