Like the life of northern sudan follows the nile, so does the electricity follow the road, the only road that goes north from Khartoum to Atbara where the desert rears its head.
This shot waqs taken from the ruins of the Meroe pyramids, a little more than half way between Khartoum and Atbara. The sunset making for a dramatic lonliness of an electricity pylon
