Photographer’s Note
In the displaed camps and areas far from the centre of Khartoum people get their water from water towers and water traders like this guy. They fill their barrels at the tower and then pass through the streets until somebdy (usually a child from the family) stops them and fills a container with water, which then goes into the house water barrel.
This is another friend of a friend, who asked me to take his photo. You have to understand that most people only have passport photos of themseves; when I print off copies they get sent all over the place to family and friends.
This was taken early in the day so the light was soft.
