[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Located at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront in Cape Town, this Victorian Gothic-style Clock Tower has always been an icon of the old docks and has become an important focal point in the Waterfront's recent urban design. This was the original Port Captain's Office completed in 1882. On the second floor is a decorative mirror room, which enabled the Port Captain to have a view of all activities in the harbour. On the bottom floor is a tide-gouge mechanism used to check the level of the tide. Restoration of the Clock Tower was completed towards the end of 1997.
The V&A waterfront is situated between Robben Island and Table mountain and is a major tourist attraction. Many shops, restuarants and pubs surround the harbour, as well as a craft market and aquarium there are plenty of other activities.

Looking at the shot now that it is uploaded I realise that I may have left too much sky at the top for the composition.

This red clock tower seems a little unreal and unexpected (actually, I wish I could see the whole area to see the contrast). The light and the contrast are excellent and produce a good strong impact. That's well done.
