Going back in time a bit, I used to drive past this old homeless man sitting in a park in the sun chatting to his friends everyday. He had so little yet he looked so happy.

Very funny portrait with great smile. I like the sepia choice and the rendering, Very good work.

Yes, excellent smile and expression. Just a happy looking guy. It looks like he's been through alot. Great catch in this one. One of those shots that none of the technicals really matter. Only the smile.

Great work.
John

Hi Wanda, I had no idea someone could look this beautiful!, a superb portrait with excellent detail, to me B/W is always the best medium for portraits & this emphasise it very well, the light & shadows are superb, & I like the tight crop, great shot, kind regards Wilson.

Outstanding portrait, Wanda

Tight crop and strong contrast work here well, allowing to see a lot of details.

Perfect DOF.

Excellent.

PS. Getting older one begins to understand that you don't need much to be happy... just a few things... which make you happy ;)

WBR, Dmitry

very good portrait wanda... the warm smile on his face is truly amazing... i also like the purpleish sepia tone and the tight framing...

take care...

Dag Wanda,
Although his hat is a bit over-exposed, his facial expression is so good that the hat part does not bother me at all. This is such a good photo on film that i only can admire your skills in portrait photography.
Seeing his face with all the wrinkles and beard you did a good job here on the scan work...congrats..!!!
Groetjes, Henk

Hi Wanda,
his warm impression by his smile is nice and despite the little overexposure I like it very much. The sharpness is excellent which is very good visible in the hairs of his beard.

That's right. I learned that people in poor living conditions smile even more than the rich ones do.

Great portrait Wanda - with his toothless grin and smiling eyes he looks very happy indeed!
I like the tight framing and shallow depth of field. Even his ears are blurred, but the zone of sharpness was right where it needed to be - on his eyes.
You really seem to have captured his personality - good work.

Cheers,
Ben

Hello Wanda,
what an impressive and very good portrait captured here. It is perfectly exposed, with excellent light control and well visible details.
The b/w format is very well chosen and perfectly fitting here. Very good one!
Tfs and best wishes.

Hi Wanda, this is a well-composed portrait of this homeless old man. Good detail (ripped cap, facial features) and sharpness (it seems every hair in his beard is sharply defined). I also like the grainy texture here. An interesting shot from home.

Ryno

This picture really makes me smile. He does look so contented and happy with life. I wonder what his secret is? :) Very nice portrait!!

Hi Wanda,

Firstly, thank you for your comments.
I am a huge fan of portraits, BW/sepia especially and this one captivated me.
Brilliant work. TFS

Hi Wanda,

Great portrait from your part of the world, where you are obviously engaged with your subject, almost intimately.

You’ve nailed a very spontaneous and communicating smile. The man’s expression is genuine and candid. Very fine level of details and excellent grey tones.

Have a "happy" weekend!

André

Superbe ...
Juste dommage qu'il manque un petit bout de casquette! autrement c'était du 10 sur 10.
