Photographer’s Note
It snowed on the mountains near Clarens in the Freestate, South Africa. Very exciting as I haven't seen snow too often.

Hi Irmgard,
This must have been a very special occasion. I like the layeredness of this image with the thick bank of clouds contrasting in a fascinating way with the dry looking landscape beneath it. The gate is a kind of mesmerizing detail. Very nice job!
Wellcome to TE!

Welcome to TE Irmgard - I like the layering of the image too it works very well - it's a nice contrast between these dry grassland areas and the mountain tops in snow.
best wishes Kev

hallo my friend. thanks 4 introducing me to TE, I'm really starting to enjoy doing something constructive with my photographs and the littlebit of knowledge that I have. My friend, since I live in this area I can appreciate the photos and enviros with you, esp. the snow! There is, however, a diffculty with this image - it has three distinct focal points that are leading the eyes to two different directions. The dirt road and gate is leading to the left and the snow-capped peak in the distance and clouds is leading the viewer to the right/top. I'd suggest moving your position slightly to the left or right (to get more of the road) and drawing the snow-capped peak closer by means of a zoom. The clouds are dramatic though and contributes much to the image. Hope this is not a discouragement!
kind regards
w

Hello Irmgard,
What an amazing sight! Great images of grass, snow and clouds! The sky is very dominating and seems to be overhanginging the snow-capped mountains in a very protective way.
I have to agree with Wim about the composition. The eye is having conflict in which way to go but with such a good beginning, I'm sure you will quickly master the finer points about where to position your camera. Welcome to TrekEarth and I will look forward to seeing your gallery.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)
