Photographer’s Note

In one of my previous images I showed you some beach huts from St.James, this image and the next that follow were taken at Muizenburg.

Beaches abound all over the Western Cape. Most of them have long stretches of fine, white sand, gently sloping into either the cold Atlantic sea or the warmer (noticeably degrees warmer) Indian Ocean.

Each has its own characteristics and distinct recreational facilities, such as surfing from Muizenburg on the Indian Ocean to Kite surfing along the Northern Suburbs beaches from Milnerton right down to Bloubergstrand.

Along the way, you’ll find delightful spots, such as: Muizenburg

Just before reaching St James, you’ll come to the beach of Muizenburg. This is recognised as one of the best surfing beaches in Cape Town.

With slightly warmer water of the Indian ocean to play in, you’ll appreciate the gentle waves that roll in for some distance before depositing you on soft sand, especially if you’re a beginner!

For the more advanced surfer, the larger waves further North along the beach will more than satisfy your need for speed. Body boarding is also popular here, The water at Muizenburg and all along False Bay is noticeably warmer, even I can manage to paddle without my feet going completely numb.

FYI. The Atlantic waters cover Milnerton, Camps Bay, Clifton, Hout Bay and 5 Mile Mile (Noordhoek) beach.
The Indian Ocean waters cover Muizenburg, St.James, Boulders Beach and all along False Bay upto Strand and beyond.
