2010 FIFA World Cup-Tribute to the Rainbow Nation
These are rows of colourfully painted houses, beautiful vibrant colors, quaint historical homes of Bo-Kaap characterised by Cape Dutch and British architecture. Full of character, these are the former Cape Malay slaves' quater dates back to the 1700s, with cobbled streets that rise up to lower slopes of Signal Hill.
At this conner of Chiappinni Street, I strolled a few times wondering what life must have been like for these slaves, here 300 years ago...

Great colorful buildings. There are almost all colors of the rainbow. Very good POV, beautiful colors, good sharpness and nicely exposed clouds.

Good use of wide angle with a slightly elevated pov. The two bottom corners balance nicely each other out.

Hello Abmdsudi ,
A very attractive picture . Colors are splendid , and the distortion doesn't work bad at all , in this case .

A stunning colourful wide-angle shot, with an interesting note to accompany it. Strong perspective views on both sides of the corner house, looking up both streets. The car and the group of figures add interest and maybe there is a connection between the two. The distortion looks great, and your scan is terrific. Well done.

Very beautiful wide angle shot of this rainbow street in the Rainbow Nation.
I noticed that the cheerful colours of the houses are not followed in the dress selection of the inhabitants. Maybe they were visitors ...
Best regards, Paul

Beautiful. Your point of view made the orange the big one. Maybe like in the final tomorrow :)
Cafalex (924) 2010-07-22 14:20
I love the pov and the strong colour. The distortion adds much more power to the house.

Beautiful full saturated color hues, in particular that orange building. It really sticks out, but also the light yellow is not bad either, as you titled rainbow nation. Yes your color tell the story. Your wide angle was a bit not wide enough I guess, but still I like your shot. Well done. thanks for your critique of my fishing shot from Bagan Ajam.

Beautiful shot of the Bo-Kaap...I just went there and couldn't get anything nearly as good...then someone came and advised me to put away the camera for my own safety...apparently, its not the sanest thing to do - walk around here with expensive cameras and lenses on display! Well done on this one!

Your point of view is fascinating here, and adds a lovely 3D effect to the image. The colours are brilliant, this must be a wonderful sight to see first thing in the morning.

Hello Abmdsudi - I was having a quick browse through your gallery and I found some old SA posts. Well I couldn't let this one go by without a comment could I? I just love the colours here, so typically Bo-Kaap and your WA lens has emphasised the steep gradient of the road leading up to the mountain. I'm impressed with the quality of the scan you have kept the vibrancy of the colours and fine detail very well. A pleasure to see and I'm glad to have found it. Warm regards rosemary
